DoInk

When did you get started in art?
-I got started as a young kid. I would draw all the time (my favorite toy was an etch-a-sketch). I would practice drawing my favorite characters and make up some of my own. I was always watching cartoons, and wondering how they did that. I guess my first animation would have been the classic "flip book". I have never really been formally trained in art (unless you count filling out one of the "as seen on t.v." drawing tests.hehehe) I just like to use art as an outlet for my creativity. I also enjoy photography(mostly of New Hampshire scenery).

What is your typical day?
-My typical day is waking up early with my son and starting our day together. He is 10 months old now, and every day he seems to learn something new. I then have to rush to the web and check my DoInk account. I reply to all my fans' comments, and then start to create something fun and new.

How do you get your creative juices flowing?
-I often get ideas for new art by just opening a new drawing, and just doodling. The doodle reminds me of something, and it grows from there. Other times I get inspired from everyday life (my son, wildlife I have seen, games I play). I also love to get suggestions for things to try and draw. My wife is great inspiration for this. At times, I'll ask her what she wants to see, and I'll try to make it for her (like my dancing turkey).

What has inspired you lately?
-Lately I have been inspired by my love of video games. I wish to maybe create them someday too. Some of the users here on DoInk have also inspired me to make better, more creative art, as well.

Do you have a favorite color?
-My favorite color is dark blue. This has always been my favorite since I was little. It reminds me of the ocean.

Do you get creative slumps and if so, how do you get out of them?
-If I do have a creative slump, I'll just start to doodle until it looks like something, or an idea pops into my head. I will also go check out what others are doing, or what they would like to see.

Favorite cartoon and/or anime character?
-My favorite cartoon character as a kid was Snoopy. I would draw him all the time!! Currently my favorite cartoon character is Brian Griffin (the dog from the family guy). He is so crude, acts like a dog sometimes, and a human others, and is just plain hillarious!!!!

Favorite food?
-My favorite food is anything cooked by my wife. She is a great cook (food network junkie). I would have to say that my all-time favorite food is the cookie. Any flavor. Just give me cookies:)

Favorite television show?
-My favorite television show is probably mythbusters. I am kind of into the nerdy shows. I do like family guy alot too though:)

What made you join DoInk and what is your experience so far?
-I joined DoInk kind of by luck. I was on the net looking for an animation site on google. I saw DoInk, checked out the user made art and wanted in. At that time it was invite only, so I left a message and asked for one. I got a reply from Aaron, and have been DoInking ever since. I love the creativity here, the software is great, and the community is very supportive. My art has gotten progressively better with time, and I don't mind the practice:)

Any advice to other DoInk users?
-My advice to the DoInksters is to keep an open mind. All art is good art. Be supportive of others, and watch as their creativity grows, and their art gets better. Keep having fun, and creating all the great art on this site that makes it so much fun:)
